A New Chapter for the Seattle Kennel Club

Since 1938, the Seattle Kennel Club has enjoyed a long history of staging our dog shows (147 of them) in the city of Seattle. Longer than that, really, as a group of dog fanciers began the Queen City Dog Club in the 1890s which eventually became Seattle Kennel Club. After all of these years, we were proud to be one of just a few kennel clubs in existence today to still stage its shows in a city-center setting and be able to share our love of dogs with the general public.

But now, reality forces us to end our wonderful partnership with the CenturyLink Field Event Center, our home since 2001. Like many other clubs across the country, we are moving our event to less expensive settings in the suburbs. The club, its entrants, and the spectators have had to become budget-conscious as downtown expenses of venue rental, parking, and hotels and accommodations, have combined with smaller entries to force this difficult decision.

But we have a great place to land. We are going to be a part of the Western Washington Clusters at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup in January and July, with one of our shows partnering with the Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers and the Gig Harbor Kennel Club on each of those dates. Please watch for details from our superintendent, BaRay Event Services (https://www.barayevents.com/).

We are searching for a venue and a date in Seattle where we can host our exciting “Woof By Woofwest,” previously held in conjunction with the dog show, and featuring events, demonstrations and booths for local dogs, a celebrity pet fashion show for charity, Meet The Breeds, and more. Please watch our websites (https://seattledogshow.org/ and https://woofbywoofwest.com/) and our Facebook (Woof By Woofwest) for news.
