The Walk for Animals held on September 26 at the University Village in Seattle was a huge success for the club. We were there to support the Seattle Humane Society in their Walk for the Animals. They raised over $150,000 for the shelter. We were also part of the Fido Fest event put on by the University Village and used it as an opportunity to promote Responsible Dog Ownership Day and our upcoming show that will be held in on March 12-13, 2011 at Qwest Field Event Center in Seattle.
Many thanks to members Dan Overstreet, Cheri Yates, Leslie Engen and Faye Strauss for all their help. Leslie brought her leonburger, Hef, Faye brought a dobie bitch, Raspberry and Sandy brought her afghan, Carson. All these dogs were out in front of the booth nearly the entire time we were there getting their photos taken, plenty of pets and hugs and lots of cookies. They were well received by the public. Many people put the date of the show in their phones right in front of us. We fielded many questions about purebred dogs. Rachel Leitner was our lucky winner for the 4 tickets to the show in March. Proceeds from the drawing will be going to the Seattle Humane Society. It was a very fun event and we hope to return next year.
